» Saga Ruby
Owned by: Saga
Previously
the Vistafjord built by Swan Hunter in 1973 and renamed in 1999 the
Caronia (now Saga Ruby as of 2005) is the sister ship to Saga Rose in
the Saga fleet coming in 24,492 tons. She's around six times smaller
than the Queen Mary 2! but still has a lot of charm with her blue,
yellow and white colours. Being able to carry a maximum of 668
passengers and 379 crew she's one of the most intimate and classic
looking cruise ships roaming the oceans.
The Caronia is 627ft
long, 82ft wide with a draught of 27ft, she will cruise at 20knots and
her passengers will not be bored with plenty of facilities including two
swimming pools, a Spa Gym and Sauna, onboard office, library numerous
shops (including a barber's!), casino, theatre and of course the Grand
Ballroom.
Having only been in service with Cunard since late 1999
an re-fitted in 2002 she's fitted into the role admirably and is
definitely one to look out for.
Below are photographed events the Saga Ruby has been seen at.
23/04/06 - QE2 Passes QM2
28/05/04 - 3 Birds one Stone
